I really like these watercolor pencils. They make it super easy to lay down linework, and you can pull out patches of watercolor to define the form directly from your original marks. It’s perfect if you don’t have a lot of time. The only problem is, it’s a little unnerving for me to have a middletone be the darkest tone on the paper. I’m used to starting with dark black sumi ink, so while I love these as studies, they don’t feel like final art to me. Plus they’re really tricky to scan.
