It’s possible I actually get too much glee out of the fact that the people at the New York Comic Con saw fit to give me a weekend pass that says “Professional” on it. It swells my heart, it truly does.
I’ve gotten the professional pass before, but in previous years I actually had a full-time job at a videogame company, which meant that in the eyes of NYCC, I was there as a representative of that company. This is the first year I registered just as myself.
The way I like to picture it in my head, someone from the NYCC registration had go to joewierenga.com, looked around a little bit, and said “ok, this guy counts.” Is it weird that, to me, this is all the validation for my career that I need?
